The BPSU offers a range of opportunities for clinicians, researchers and trainees to engage with rare disease surveillance beyond monthly reporting. Whether you are developing a study, looking to share your findings, or interested in contributing to the strategic direction of the Unit, there are a number of ways to get involved.

Sir Peter Tizard Research Bursary
Each year we invite trainee paediatricians and newly qualified consultants planning a surveillance study through the British Paediatric Surveillance Unit (BPSU) to apply for this bursary. The successful applicant receives a fully funded slot on the BPSU Orange Card and a stipend towards their training needs.

BPSU-RCPCH webinar series
The BPSU-RCPCH webinar series provides a platform to share findings from national surveillance studies, explore methodological approaches, and discuss emerging issues in rare childhood conditions. These sessions bring together clinicians, researchers and trainees to promote learning, collaboration and the translation of surveillance data into practice.

The BPSU is guided by a multidisciplinary Scientific Committee that oversees study selection, methodology and the strategic direction of national rare disease surveillance. We welcome expressions of interest from clinicians, researchers and trainees who are passionate about improving understanding of rare childhood conditions. Committee membership offers an opportunity to contribute to high-impact national research, influence study priorities, and collaborate with colleagues across the UK.
